PREVIOUS WORK
Interested in joining our club and contributing to our work or employing our services for your class/club but not sure if it's worth your valuable time or energy?
Well, we don't blame you! To ease your mind, we've compiled our past work and other activities UpRoar! has done, all of which have been extraordinarily successful and been appreciated by both student and staff alike.

AP PSYCH LESSONS
Gender and Sexuality Education for future scientists
For several years running, we've taught the AP Psych classes about gender (ex transgender, gender norms, etc) during their social psych unit.

The lesson helps educate the students about the importance of awareness and knowledge concerning societal expectations, toxic gender norms, the LGBT+ community, and more.

We always get very positive feedback from both students and teachers (it's even featured in the yearbook!).

DIVERSITY FORMS
Learn from people who have dedicated their lives to advocacy.
Every single year, students can go to the Neutral Zone in Ann Arbor for an all-day program. There, they can learn about and discuss various current social topics in depth. Previous sessions discussed microaggressions, the Native American genocide, and the Flint water crisis.
The NZ is a teen-led center that hosts a variety of exciting programs, including music creation (they have their own functional studio), leadership councils, poetry/writing groups, and more. We recommend you check it out in your spare time!

And not only that... UpRoar! is often invited to events, like Diversity Day, BAMM Summit, library events, etc.! Sometimes we will even lead or teach a lesson! We have a big influence here!

But, this is a unique opportunity is available to UpRoar! members only.

OPEN HOUSES!
Monthly education and projects to help our community!
At the end of every month, UpRoar! hosts an Open House (usually in The Hornet Hub) that's open to students and staff! There's a theme for each Open House! Recent Open Houses have focused on Allyship, Sexual Assault, and Environmental Racism!

Come and drop by to an Open House if you for some reason can't become a member of UpRoar!

PROJECTS!
Advocacy can come in many forms; including art!
This is a new method UpRoar! has come across in making a difference within our community! In the past, we have tried to connect with people outside our club to make a difference, but it's hard to get the word out there.

Recently, with the Stonewall Project, we built an actual wall and displayed it in the cafeteria! It was the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, so we made the memorial and put faces of famous and important people to the Stonewall Movement and the LGBT+ Community! On the other side of the wall was a blank side that allowed students to write their thoughts on sticky notes and then post them there! It was majorly successful and we made great connections through this memorial.

UpRoar! is looking forward to making more of these projects, so if you have an artistic side and want to make change, UpRoar! is the place for you!

TEACHING STAFF
SAS Faculty come and learn from our club!
The most impactful lesson we gave to staff was when we did Professional Development Training in 2018! P.D. Training is an annual meeting where faculty from all over SAS come and learn techniques to become better educators in their classes and schools. We talked with them about allyship and ways they can make their classes safer, healthier, and provide more awareness for their students. It was a huge success, and several teachers have already implemented new techniques into their classes!

But we also have conferences with teachers to talk and change Saline's policies! In the 2019 year, we connected with staff over bullying policies, how their handled, and busing safety!

TEAMING UP!
We love to team up and connect with other clubs!
One of the most memorable UpRoar! team-ups with other clubs would be for Bystander Training! UpRoar! hosted Bystander Training with Connecting Club and Student Council! It was a huge event that took place in the High School Library all day as we three groups learned how to be a better bystander!

But not only are we willing to team up with other clubs! We are also willing to team with businesses and other organizations! For the summer of 2019, UpRoar! worked with McPherson Local as they sold the buttons we made and the money went to a few charities! UpRoar! has also worked a bit with Saline Supports for the "I Am Jazz!" support meeting!

We hand-tailor lessons specific to your lesson/request to create the ultimate presentation and activity session for students. We can discuss any and every topic, including (but not limited to) gender, sexuality, race, religion, socio-economic status, and more, and we work hard to make each lesson not only relevant to the teacher's class but also to current events and social topics.
Included in a lesson are a presentation, activity, and breakout group discussions, unless needed otherwise.
